Do you know where you’ll be eating this October? We’re constantly on the lookout for new restaurants in Singapore that are shaking things up in the foodie scene, and as always, we love to share our finds with you. This month we have a few eateries on our radar that we’re sure are going to stand up to the hype including a quirky Japanese izakaya in Robertson Quay, a sophisticated Chinese spot offering private dining only, and a brand new venue by one of our favourite French cafes on Orchard Road. Read on for all the deets on these hot new spots and more fab foodie finds.

Amano

Amano New Restaurant in SingaporeThe name Amano means ‘by hand’ in Italian, which gives you a good idea of the freshness of the fare at this modern Italian spot. Think tasty pastas and pizzas made from scratch, premium meats and seafood grilled to perfection, and tantalising desserts. Start with appetisers like the prosciutto and burrata or breaded portobello mushroom, then grab some pizzas to share at the table like the truffle wild mushroom and Meat Lover with pepperoni, fennel sausage, chicken and bacon.

Amazing Hokkaido

Japanese Restaurant in SingaporeLooking for a new after-work hangout? Amazing Hokkaido is a cool Japanese izakaya in Rob Quay that offers fun vibes and premium products flown in from… you guessed it, Hokkaido. Order up some pirate highballs, then fuel up on moreish eats like the muroran yakitor (pork and onion skewers glazed in a mustardy sauce and grilled over charcoal(, wagyu steak on a hot lava stone, and the Bursting Salmon Roe Bowl with plump pearls of ikura on rice.

BBR by Alaine Ducasse

BBR by Alain Ducasse Raffles Bar in SingaporeThe old Raffles Bar & Billiards Room has undergone a transformation much like the hotel itself and re-emerged as a contemporary Mediterranean spot by acclaimed chef Alain Ducasse. BBR now sports a lively open kitchen, terrazzo tabletops, and bright red booths, plus an enticing menu with vibrant dishes from Portugal, Spain, Italy and France. We can’t wait to try the Galician style octopus and the hearty shrimp and shellfish stew with Carabineros prawns.

Belimbing Superstar

Belimbing Superstar Peranakan dishes in SingaporeAnn Siang Hill has a new spot dedicated to preserving Peranakan culture and cuisine. Belimbing Superstar is the result of a collaboration between chef Ben Teo and the Coconut Club crew, as well as plenty of home cooks who opened their kitchens and dining room tables to the team during the research process. Sidle up to the counter and choose from traditional Peranakan dishes like chap chye, ayam buah keluak, yam cakes, and pork belimbing.

Chalerm Thai

Chalerm Thai Restaurant in SingaporeSituated in the glass-roofed Arcade at the Capitol Kempinski Hotel, Chalerm Thai is a lovely little spot to grab classic Thai dishes. Have a seat in the main dining room on the ground floor or on the small balcony on the upper floor. Starters include the spicy som tom kung salad with papaya and prawns, grilled satay skewers, and fish cakes, while mains include traditional Thai curries, seafood like soft shell crab in a sweet tamarind sauce, pad Thai noodles, and fried rice.

Imperial Treasure Tasting Room

Chinese Restaurant in SingaporeThe Imperial Treasure group is renowned for Chinese fine dining, and now they’ve taken things to another level with the Tasting Room for private dining experiences. Seating options include a V-shaped bar or communal round or long tables, and the menu changes regularly depending on what’s in season and the creative whims of the chef. Expect premium ingredients like Canadian geoduck clams, foie gras, Iberico pork, and Angus beef. Reservations are essential.

Merci Marcel Orchard Road

Merci Marcel French Restaurant in SingaporeSince opening in Tiong Bahru a few years back, Merci Marcel has been satisfying all of our French food cravings in their cool boho-styled space. They later opened another venue on Club Street, and now their third installment is open on Orchard Road. Expect the same cosy atmosphere as the original with lots of natural wood, greenery and colourful cushions, as well as great eats like imported cold cuts and cheeses, freshly baked croissants, salads, steaks and rillettes.

The Elephant Room Cocktail Bar in SingaporeAn Indian cocktail bar has opened up in the Keong Saik hood. The Elephant Room is a modern Indian cocktail bar hidden above Burnt Ends. Tuck into their signature cocktails and bites like their Tamarind Curry Prawns.
