Songkran is Calling! Head to Thailand this April for Siam Songkran Music Festival and VOLO

by Steph

If you haven’t been to Thailand for Songkran (Thai New Year), you’re missing out. It’s coming up this April and we can’t think of a better way to celebrate than rocking out at a music festival with some great DJs and performers. This year there are two different music festivals taking place in Thailand over the Songkran holiday, each one offering up big beats, eye-popping arts and fashion, amazing eats, and plenty of vibrant Thai culture.

The first festival to kick off is the Siam Songkran Music Festival at SHOW DC Arena in Bangkok. Offering up a truly interactive experience, the festival will feature two stages with world-class sound systems and plenty of space to get your groove on to international and local artists, plus fun workshops like Muay Thai and cooking classes, and the Thai Taste food and crafts market where you can fuel up on tasty local eats and pick up unique gifts to take home. Foodies, you will appreciate the curation of winners from The World’s Best Street Food by Worldgas. The most unique stalls have been hand-selected, some which have disrupted the gastronomy scene in Thailand, so you will definitely be well-fed.

As for music, the lineup for the festival features some pretty spectacular DJs who are sure to get the crowds moving. To start, the Barong Family will host a stage spearheaded by Yellow Claw, Moksi, Wiwek presents MAHA VANA, Crisis Era and Sihk. Then on April 13th, Q-Dance takes over with hardstyle veterans Headhunterz, Coone, Zatox, Villain and Darren Styles. On April 14th you can groove to beats by Afrojack, Seven Lions, Ekali, Ephwurd, and Mika. Finally, the festival will close with sick rhythms by Alok, Salvatore Ganacci, Sevenn, Fedde Le Grand and Liu.

The Siam Stage will bring the wonders of Siam’s national literature series translated into exquisite lights & sounds show. Festival-goers will enjoy Thai cultural art and performance which will bring guests on a journey through four regions and four principles: Literature, Music, Dance, and Combat Arts. Expect full 4D production accompanying our actors, stunt performers, dancers, acrobats, and much more!

Hip hop heads won’t want to miss VOLO Festival, an epic mash-up of urban culture featuring music, art, fashion, and food. Taking place at Vana Nava Water Jungle in Hua Hin, the festival will host A$AP Rocky as a headlining act. For those who don’t know, A$AP is the voice behind hit tracks like F**kin’ Problems and Praise the Lord and he has collaborated with stars like Kendrick Lamar, Drake, Skrillex, and Rihanna. Also on the roster are regional talents Daboyway, Pok Mindset & Duble P, Youngohm, FIIXD, Younggu, Diamond, Young Bong, and Gavin Duval.

There will also be lit lifestyle zones to explore at VOLO Festival like the Fashion Zone featuring curated local streetwear and the Food Zone with an array of fab food trucks serving up everything from pad Thai to sliders and cold beers. The gates open from 4 pm to midnight on the 13th and 14th of April, and there will be a pirate theme in effect, so feel free to dress up and express yourself. The tickets also include entrance into the waterpark, so come early and bring your swimsuit to get wet and wild on the slides.
