Why you should go here:
Although quite a bit pricier than your average sushi joint, Tatsuya is worth the splurge for the amiable and attentive service, the quality ingredients and the artful preparation and presentation of each dish. To get the best of the best, try the ‘omakase’ style meal, which means you put yourself in the capable hands of Chef Ronnie and his Japanese chefs and let them surprise you with delectable bites like sweet Hokkaido scallops, savory sashimi of Arctic char from the Miyagi prefecture, purple sprouts from Fukuoka and their special Aburi (seared) sushi.
What we love:
We love all of the seared sushi—the quick blast of heat adds a lovely texture and flavor to the fresh fish. Sitting at the bar is also a treat, as you can watch the chefs slice, roll and blow-torch your meal right before your eyes. Large groups might want to book the private room in back that can seat up to 15 people.
Just ask for seared sushi and the chefs will serve you up an outstanding omakase style meal. However, if you’re on a budget you may want to swing by at lunch time when the bento boxes and sushi and sashimi sets go for about $35 to $45 and include rice, soup and fresh fruit.
Lunch sets range from $35++ – $40++, while omakase meals start at $200++ not including alcoholic beverages.
