1. Tamarind Hill
You couldn’t ask for a more scenic setting than Tamarind Hill, an elegant fine-dining Thai restaurant housed in a historic colonial bungalow in the Labrador Nature Reserve. The Thai chefs here create authentic dishes from their homeland and neighbouring Burma, so you can expect vibrant dishes boasting the perfect balance of sweet, spicy, sour, and salty flavours. Be sure to try one of their signature cocktails made with house-infused gin. If you’re looking for an ambiance to escape the hustle and bustle of daily SG life, this is your spot.
Tamarind Hill, 30 Labrador Villa Road, Singapore 119189. p. +65 6278 6364. Open Mon – Sat 12pm – 3pm, 5pm – 11pm, Sun 11:30am – 3:30pm, 6:30pm – 11pm
One of the new restaurants to make it to this list is Preludio. Chef Fernando Arevalo plans to rewrite the fine dining experience at Preludio with themed ‘chapters’ that inspire the decor, food, and wine. The current chapter is Monochrome, so expect an elegant black and white space and creative dishes like the Pata Negra with Iberico pork, white carrot and apple purée, charred Piennolo tomato and black basil and the Patagonian toothfish with cauliflower purée, leek and almond milk bubbles, pickled almonds, and black olive powder.
Preludio, 182 Cecil Street, Frasers Tower #03-01/02, Singapore 069547. p. +65 6904 5686. Open Mon – Fri 11:30am – 2:30pm, Mon – Sat 6pm – 11pm
3. Corner House
Gastro-botanica is the style of cuisine at Corner House, which is fitting considering this One Michelin-starred spot sits in a beautiful black and white bungalow in the Singapore Botanic Gardens. Start with a drink or two in the cosy Reading Corner, then move to the Claret Room, the verandah, or the balcony for a contemporary five-star meal consisting of farm-fresh, seasonal ingredients. They also have a stellar wine list featuring over 600 labels.
Corner House, 1 Cluny Road, EJH Corner House, Singapore Botanic Gardens, Singapore 259569
4. Luke’s Oyster Bar & Chop House (The Heeren)
We’re huge fans of Luke’s Oyster Bar & Chop House because the food and vibes are consistently spot on. And while we love both locations, we reckon the Hereen spot is much more romantic. Tucked away on the third floor, the softly-lit space offers up intimate booths, a sleek marble bar, and big windows that overlook Orchard Road. Start with a bottle of vino, then tuck into upscale comfort food like fresh oysters, crab cakes, and thick juicy steaks. We highly recommend dining at the bar here, which also gives you a nice view of Orchard Road.
Luke’s Oyster Bar & Chop House (The Heeren), 260 Orchard Road #03-02, The Heeren, Singapore 238855. p. +65 6733 4813. Open daily 12pm – 10:30pm
5. The Summerhouse
If you’re looking to whisk your love off somewhere romantic, but don’t have the time to jet off on a vacay, The Summerhouse is a good bet. This beautiful farm-to-table restaurant is set in a conservation bungalow in the Seletar countryside and features a sprawling garden that supplies the chefs with freshly picked produce. For an ultra memorable experience, book into one of the exclusive garden domes where you can enjoy an intimate meal in your own private sphere.
The Summerhouse, 3 Park Lane, Singapore 798387. p. +65 6262 1063. Open Wed – Sun 6pm – 11pm, Sat, Sun & PH 11:30am – 3pm
Everything about JAAN is exquisite from the striking crystal chandelier that runs the length of the ceiling to the spectacular views of the Singapore skyline, the flawless service, and the Michelin-starred cuisine. Located on the 70th floor Chef Kirk Westaway draws on his memories of growing up in the UK to produce modern British dishes that focus on seasonality and top-notch quality ingredients. Try to snag a seat by the windows if you can.
JAAN, 2 Stamford Road, Swissôtel The Stamford, Level 70, Singapore 178882. p. +65 6837 3322. Open Mon – Sat 12pm – 2:30pm, 7pm – 10:30pm
Nothing says romance like dining on fine French cuisine in the midst of a Mediterranean garden. Housed in a giant glass dome in Gardens by the Bay, Pollen offers a unique dining experience that you really won’t find anywhere else in Singapore. Settle into a table for two next to exotic flowers and foliage and indulge in expertly executed modern creations like the langoustine with lardo and herb jus and suckling pig with pear, onions, and leeks.

8. Tippling Club
It’s not often you find a venue that manages to make it to both the Asia’s Best Restaurants and Asia’s 50 Best Bars lists, but Tippling Club has managed to do just that. Here chef-owner Ryan Clift whips up progressive dishes paired with playful cocktails by master mixologists for a fun dining experience that will be one to remember. If you’re looking to impress your foodie crush, this spot will definitely win their stamp of approval.

PS.Cafe has a number of locations all over the island, but we like the Ann Siang Hill spot for its peaceful green setting and chic interiors boasting marble-topped tables, leather banquettes, and lots of natural light. This is a great spot for couples who have different tastes because the menu offers a great mix of Western and Asian fare like the ham and mushroom croque monsieur, crab and prawn laksa, and sticky BBQ ribs. Start with a drink on the outdoor patio and then head indoors for dinner. Please don’t leave without ordering the truffle fries.
PS.Cafe Ann Siang Hill, 45 Ann Siang Road #02-02, Singapore 069719. p. +65 9797 0648. Open Mon – Wed 11:30am – 11pm, Thurs – Fri 11:30am – 12am, Sat 9:30am – 12am, Sun 9:30am – 11pm
