While the name Bar-Roque Grill hints at the grandeur and drama of the Baroque era, this French-inspired restaurant is a little more easy-going with a convivial atmosphere and an open kitchen that puts out modern European dishes made with premium ingredients from around the world. Owner and chef Stephane Istel hails from the Alsace region of France, and together with his talented team, they put out hearty traditional French dishes that are both delicious and affordable.
Why you should come here:
Bar-Roque Grill recently received a Bib Gourmand award, making it the only French restaurant in Singapore to place on the list, and we can definitely see why. The space is super inviting with ruby red walls, natural stone, wood and brick, and the service is friendly and not a bit pretentious. The food is also comforting with French favourites like rotisserie chicken, terrines and rillettes, all of which can be complemented with Old World or New World wines.
What we love:
This place has been around for years, but it hasn’t wavered in quality or atmosphere, which is definitely a good sign that the team is committed to upholding their high standards and providing good value food and experiences. We love popping in for a glass of wine and some of their amazing charcuterie selections, and also that Chef Stephane changes the menu on a regular basis, so there is always something new and exciting to try. If you’re in for a full-on meal, try the Australian Pork Knuckle or the Rotisserie Free-Range Chicken.

When you’re in the mood for a great weekend feast, but not your usual brunch fare, Bar-Roque does a great Sunday roast with meats roasted in their Rotisol rotisserie oven and all sorts of decadent sides and fixings. Just be sure to make a reservation, because they can get pretty filled up, and you definitely don’t want to miss out on this feed.

The 3-course lunch set goes for $38++ and includes a starter, main and dessert. For dinner you can try their 4-course set dinner for $88++ or indulge in the 6-course Chef Surprise Menu for $108++.
