Can you believe it’s August already? We are still letting that soak in but with the long holiday weekend coming up there’s plenty to get up to in our Little Red Dot. This month has got us in full summer mode, with beach parties, festivals and so many foodie events we’re ready to hit the town with this ultimate list of events to check out.

August 9

National Day Fireworks

It’s that time of year again and we’ve rounded up a nice little list of chic spots to soak in the annual fireworks show that will get you in the patriotic spirit and impress locals and visitors alike. We’re talking rooftop spots with eye-level views of the show, giving you an amazing vantage point with cocktails and ambiance to boot. Majula Singapura!

August 9 – 12

Sentosa Grill Fest

Sentosa Grill Fest in Singapore

Hit up Siloso Beach for Sentosa Grill Fest, with over 1km of vendors serving up over 100 delicious dishes beachside – including grilled oysters, Impossible burgers and even grilled durian. There will be 27 F&B vendors set up that will have you spoilt for choice this holiday weekend.

Ginger Garden Farmers Market

Get ready for another farmer’s market, this time hosted inside a beautiful garden setting at The Villa Fiesta – situated within the Ginger Garden at the Botanic Gardens. Visitors can expect a mix of local farmers, artisanal goods and craftsmen along with some tunes to keep the vibe going. Don’t forget your reusable shopping bags and cups to keep this event sustainable and waste-free!

Tanjong Paradisco

Our favourite beach club, Tanjong Beach Club is turning 10 and they are throwing an epic party Tanjong Paradisco to celebrate in style. It’ll be an extravaganza with everything from yoga to doggy activities, workshops to tiki party and all night discos. You’ll know where to find us this holiday weekend!

August 17

Tensnake (GER, True Romance) at Kilo Lounge

German DJ, Tensnake, comes to Kilo Lounge this month, hitting the decks on 17 August from 10pm until late. Want to make a night of it and get free entry into the club? Booking a table for dinner at Kilo Kitchen around the corner. Hit up his playlist on spotify for some tunes to get you in the mood – and don’t miss out on his remixes of artists like Lana del Rey and Junior Boys.

Check out an ongoing experimental project set to explore the line between video, music and performance art – as a two day audiovisual performance entitled Life Circuit: I/O by the collective INTER—MISSION will inhabit Lee Kang-so’s Disappearance, Bar in the Gallery (1973) at The National Gallery. This show will feature dancers both live and online with performers both locally as well as live streaming from Tokyo. Talk about art in the digital age – we can’t wait to check out this show brought to us in conjunction with Awakenings: Art in Society in Asia 1960s-1990s.

Singapore Night Festival

Bras Basah and Bugis district will transform at night this month as we welcome back the Singapore Night Festival. This year’s event will include the amazing acrobatics show Fuerza Bruta (tickets available here) which will surely be a highlight. From musical lineups to food vendors, the Night Festival is a great reason to get you out of the house for some cultural inspo timed perfectly to avoid the summer heat.

Cafe Culture 2019

Coffee and Cafe fanatics will be in heaven at this year’s Cafe Culture coming to MBS end of this month. We’re talking international concepts featuring coffee and brunch superstars like Lune Croissants from Auz and Sisterfields from Bali, hitting up our shores with their amazing food and bevs. So this is your chance to cure those cravings without having a to book a flight overseas.
