by URBAN JOURNEY

With its clean white interiors, light wooden furnishings and fresh modern Australian cuisine with Asian accents, Luxe wins big points with CBD noshers. The original cafe was born in Bondi, and this branch in The Working Capitol is their first overseas venture. Here Singapore-born, but Australia-raised Chef Chui Lee Luk creates healthy breakfast bowls and comfort food like sausage rolls and steak sammies accompanied by Toby’s Estate Coffee, cold pressed juices, bubbles and Bloody Marys.

Why you should come here:

This is a great all-day cafe, as they’re open from morning to night (except on Sundays and Mondays when they close at 4pm), and the menu spans all sorts of cravings from eggs benny to substantial salads, burgers, and roast chicken. And with 3,000 square feet of space, there is plenty of room to spread out, no matter how large your group.

What we love:

The ambiance at Luxe is great, as the space is bright and airy, you can chill in the comfy lounge area with cushioned sofas, at the long white bar, or the pretty tables adorned with vases of fresh flowers. We always sit at the high tables in the middle of the restaurant for a more easy-going experience, especially if we’re just popping in for a coffee, wine or a quick bite.

For breakfast the Quinoa & Chia Seed Pudding and the House Made Granola with seasonal fruit and yogurt are both great grabs if you’re looking for something light and tasty, and the coffee is excellent as it’s made from primo Australian beans.

Come lunch time some of our favourites include the Parmesan Donuts (deep-fried cheesy goodness served with parmesan cream), the Truffled Fries, the Roast Pumpkin salad with kale, marinated goat cheese, onion and seeds, and the Quinoa and Beetroot Falafel salad with minted yogurt greens. And for dinner, the Barramundi with mashed peas, lotus root and radish is our go-to dish.
