The 7 Best Gin Bars in Singapore

by URBAN JOURNEY

You know what they say… “don’t cry over spilt milk, it could have been gin”. Ain’t that a fact. When we’re not quaffingred wine, it’s usually this potent poison we’re reaching for instead. Whether in the form of a good ol’ fashioned G&T, or whipped up into a delicious Martini or French 75, it’s hard to go wrong. And thanks to the slew of speciality ginbars popping up across Singapore, it’s easier than ever to get boozy on Mother’s ruin; good luck trying to stop at just one. Here’s where we like to hit up when it’s gin o’clock.

1. Atlas

It’s big, it’s grand, and it’s home to one of the world’s largest physical gin collections; over 1,000 labels in total. There’s even a resident ‘master of gin’ (contender for best job ever?). Unsurprisingly, you can get your paws on some unique varieties; from London dry gins dating back to 1910, or the very best of modern craft gins from around the world. A must-visit for aficionados. And don’t even get us started on the fabulously opulent decor…

Atlas, 600 North Bridge Road, Parkview Square, 188778, t. 6396 4466

2. The Rabbit Hole

Take a tumble down the Rabbit Hole at this whimsy al fresco garden bar in Dempsey Hill. We can’t think of a better place to while away a Saturday or Sunday afternoon than relaxing with an expertly mixed gin cocktail. House-made tonics and herbs grown in its garden make these bevvies extra special.

The Rabbit Hole, 39C Harding Rd, 249541, t. 6473 9965

3. Artemis

Calling all G&T lovers; hit up Artemis to sample its selection of unique twists on this classic drink. We love the sound of the Paper Lantern (Fever Tree Indian Tonic, mandarin and Sichuan peppercorns) and the Botanist (Fever Tree Indian tonic, orange slice, and rosemary). Sample these two, plus a few more, during the daily happy hour from 3 pm – 7 pm daily when you can bag a G&T for $15 a pop on the al fresco terrace.

Artemis, 138 Market Street, #40-01 CapitaGreen (rooftop), 048946, t. 6635 8677

4. Spiffy Dapper

Expect to be spoiled for choice at this quirky speakeasy on Amoy Street; it stocks a ton of gin varieties that are expertly whipped into potent cocktail creations. Good luck popping in for just one, we guarantee you’ll be rolling outta here at 2 am ‘cause the atmosphere is awesome and the bar snacks are killer.

5. Cin Cin

A collection of well-known and boutique gins, gin-inspired cocktails, and over 500 different ways to build your own G&T or Martini awaits at Cin Cin. What’s more, every Saturday it hosts a ‘gin treasury’ experience where for $68 you can indulge in three hours of free-flow gin sampling (there are 50 gins and 16 tonics to choose from!) while nibbling on a divine selection of bar bites including truffle fries, pork sliders, chicken wings, crispy calamari, and stuffed mushrooms. Cancel those Sunday plans; a hangover is inevitable.
